Page 525 Naamdayv ji Idols- Gujri Naamdayv ji- ਏਕੈ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀਜੈ ਭਾਉ ॥ One stone is lovingly decorated, ਦੂਜੈ ਪਾਥਰ ਧਰੀਐ ਪਾਉ ॥ while another stone is walked upon. ਜੇ ਓਹੁ ਦੇਉ ਤ ਓਹੁ ਭੀ ਦੇਵਾ ॥ If one is a god, then the other must also be a god. ਕਹਿ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ Says Naam Dayv, I serve the Lord. ||4||1|| Page 556 Idol worshipper M1- Bihagara Mahalla 1- ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੂਲੇ ਭੂਲੇ ਅਖੁਟੀ ਜਾਂਹੀ ॥ The Hindus have forgotten the Primal Lord; they are going the wrong way. ਨਾਰਦਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਂਹੀ ॥ As Naarad instructed them, they are worshipping idols. ਅੰਧੇ ਗੁੰਗੇ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥ They are blind and mute, the blindest of the blind. ਪਾਥਰੁ ਲੇ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥ The ignorant fools pick up stones and worship them. ਓਹਿ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੇ ਤੁਮ ਕਹਾ ਤਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ But when those stones themselves sink, who will carry you across? ||2|| Page 637 No gods / Idol worship M1- Sorath Mahalla 1- ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਾ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਗਉ ਕਿਆ ਦੇਹਿ ॥ Why worship gods and goddesses, O Siblings of Destiny? What can we ask of them? What can they give us? ਪਾਹਣੁ ਨੀਰਿ ਪਖਾਲੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਬੂਡਹਿ ਤੇਹਿ ॥੬॥ The stone gods are washed with water, O Siblings of Destiny, but they just sink in the water. ||6|| Page 739 Idol worshipper M5- Soohee Mahalla 5- ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ Within the home of his own self, he does not even come to see his Lord and Master. ਗਲ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਹਣੁ ਲੈ ਲਟਕਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ And yet, around his neck, he hangs a stone god. ||1|| ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਫਿਰਤਾ ॥ The faithless cynic wanders around, deluded by doubt. ਨੀਰੁ ਬਿਰੋਲੈ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਮਰਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ He churns water, and after wasting his life away, he dies. ||1||Pause|| ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਹਣ ਕਉ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਕਹਤਾ ॥ That stone, which he calls his god, ਓਹੁ ਪਾਹਣੁ ਲੈ ਉਸ ਕਉ ਡੁਬਤਾ ॥੨॥ That stone pulls him down and drowns him. ||2|| ਗੁਨਹਗਾਰ ਲੂਣ ਹਰਾਮੀ ॥ O sinner, you are untrue to your own self; ਪਾਹਣ ਨਾਵ ਨ ਪਾਰਗਿਰਾਮੀ ॥੩॥ A boat of stone will not carry you across. ||3|| ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ Meeting the Guru, O Nanak, I know my Lord and Master. ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੯॥ The Perfect Architect of Destiny is pervading and permeating the water, the land and the sky. ||4||3||9|| Page 1158 No gods / Idol worship Kabeer ji- Bhairao Kabeer ji- ਤੋਰਉ ਨ ਪਾਤੀ ਪੂਜਉ ਨ ਦੇਵਾ ॥ I do not pick leaves as offerings, and I do not worship idols. ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੨॥ Without devotional worship of the Lord, service is useless. ||2|| Page 1160 Idol worship useless Kabeer ji- Bhairao Mahalla 5 Kabeer ji- ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਕਹਤੇ ਦੇਵ ॥ Those who call a stone their god ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੇਵ ॥ Their service is useless. ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਂਈ ਪਾਇ ॥ Those who fall at the feet of a stone god ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ਅਜਾਂਈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ - their work is wasted in vain. ||1|| ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਸਦ ਬੋਲੰਤਾ ॥ My Lord and Master speaks forever. ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ God gives His gifts to all living beings. ||1||Pause|| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੇਉ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਅੰਧੁ ॥ The Divine Lord is within the self, but the spiritually blind one does not know this. ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕਾ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਪਾਵੈ ਫੰਧੁ ॥ Deluded by doubt, he is caught in the noose. ਨ ਪਾਥਰੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ The stone does not speak; it does not give anything to anyone. ਫੋਕਟ ਕਰਮ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਹੈ ਸੇਵ ॥੨॥ Such religious rituals are useless; such service is fruitless. ||2|| ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਚੜਾਵੈ ॥ If a corpse is anointed with sandalwood oil, ਉਸ ਤੇ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ What good does it do? ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਰੁਲਾਈ ॥ If a corpse is rolled in manure, ਤਾਂ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥ What does it lose from this? ||3|| ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਉ ਕਹਉ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥ Says Kabeer, I proclaim this out loud ਸਮਝਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥ Behold, and understand, you ignorant, faithless cynic. ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਘਰ ਗਾਲੇ ॥ The love of duality has ruined countless homes. ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲੇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੨॥ The Lord's devotees are forever in bliss. ||4||4||12|| Page 1264 Idol & Grave worshipper M4- Malaar Mahalla 4- ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਫੂਲ ਤੋਰਾਵੈ ॥ The ignorant and the blind wander deluded by doubt; deluded and confused, they pick flowers to offer to their idols. ਨਿਰਜੀਉ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਮੜਾ ਸਰੇਵਹਿ ਸਭ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ They worship lifeless stones and serve the tombs of the dead; all their efforts are useless. ||3|| Page 1371 Kabeer ji paper ink / idols- Jaijaiwanti Kabeer ji- ਕਬੀਰ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਮੋਲਿ ਲੇ ਮਨਹਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ Kabeer, some buy idols and worship them; in their stubborn-mindedness, they make pilgrimages to sacred shrines. ਦੇਖਾ ਦੇਖੀ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗੁ ਧਰਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਭਟਕਾ ਖਾਹਿ ॥੧੩੫॥ They look at one another, and wear religious robes, but they are deluded and lost. ||135|| ਕਬੀਰ ਪਾਹਨੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਪੂਜੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ Kabeer, someone sets up a stone idol and all the world worships it as the Lord. ਇਸ ਭਰਵਾਸੇ ਜੋ ਰਹੇ ਬੂਡੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਧਾਰ ॥੧੩੬॥ Those who hold to this belief will be drowned in the river of darkness. ||136|| ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾਗਦ ਕੀ ਓਬਰੀ ਮਸੁ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਪਾਟ ॥ Kabeer, the paper is the prison, and the ink of rituals are the bars on the windows. ਪਾਹਨ ਬੋਰੀ ਪਿਰਥਮੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪਾੜੀ ਬਾਟ ॥੧੩੭॥ The stone idols have drowned the world, and the Pandits, the religious scholars, have plundered it on the way. ||137||
